Kavarna Coffeehouse hosts the CSA Expo

We had a great time at the CSA Expo over the weekend at the Kavarna Coffeehouse in Green Bay. The Expo had a great turn out of people curious about the CSA model.

Saturday felt like the beginning of spring with the temperature soaring into the high 20’s. Many of the local CSA farmers were available to answer the questions of hopeful share members. Two of the most asked questions at the Expo were:

1. What are the differences between a full share and a half share?

2. Do the shares include fruits?

At Kellner Back Acre Garden, we offer three different share sizes. We offer the full share, which is recommended for a family of 4 or more. We also offer the half share or the every other week half share, which are both recommended for smaller families or single members. All of the shares have the same benefits but offer a different quantity for the families. At Kellner Back Acre Garden, we have always recommended that for a family just starting in the CSA lifestyle to select the half share. The half share will give the family a nice introduction into the garden life, but will also be less overwhelming if you have not seen or prepared some of the vegetables before.

In our shares we will also be  including some fruits this season. We will hopefully be able to supply our members with raspberries and apples.

We are thankful for the many people who came out on Saturday to learn about the CSA. If you missed this CSA Expo don’t worry because Kavarna has scheduled  another Expo due to the overwhelming turn out. We will be there on March 12 from 5pm until 7pm to answer more questions.
